    Greetings from Peru!

    Peru, vibrant colours at the Sunday market at Pisac

    Land of fresh lucuma fruit, maca, mangos and purple corn. I’m here on holiday and I’m in foodie heaven. Here are a few images I captured of the local colours and flavours of Peru & Bolivia.

    Island of the Sun on Lake Titicaca, on the Bolivian side, with the Andes in the background. This is the sacral chakra of the earth.  Our journey by bus along the side of this vast lake revealed crops of potatoes, quinoa and lupins.

    Fresh lucuma fruit at the market in Pisac, Peru

    This is what fresh lucuma looks like before it becomes the pale brown powdered sweetener we know and love.  The flesh of the fruit is sweet and quite dry.  Lucuma is the most popular flavour of ice cream in Peru so I had to try it out a few times, yummy. 

    I wanted to share news of my forthcoming workshops and to give you another week to benefit from the early bird discount for 2 of these, before Monday 7 April.

    Raw Mexican menu workshop & dinner at Beautiful Heart Raw Kitchen with AradhanaOn the S. American theme, I’m hosting a Mexican Menu Workshop & Dinner on Thurs 8 May from 5-9pm. This will be an intimate group of 6-8 guests, with plenty of time to linger over dinner and enjoy the connections that always thrive at my workshops. Early bird 7 April.

    Before we journey to Mexico, you can join me at Demuth’s Vegetarian Cookery School in Bath on Sun 27 April from 10am – 2pm for an Introduction to Raw food with a new menu. So if you´re new to raw food and want to learn some easy recipes to get you started, or you have attended this workshop before and are ready for some new recipes, this workshop is for you.

    I return to Demuth’s Vegetarian Cookery School on Sun 15 June with a new Next Steps in Raw Food workshop. This will include more involved recipes as well as some dehydrating.

    Sacred Chocolate in Peru. Raw Chocolate workshop on Sun 4 May with Aradhana at Beautiful Heart Raw KitchenRaw Chocolate is very much on my mind here in Peru as this is where the Criolla cacao beans I use come from! I’ve brought a stash of raw chocolate (Om Bar, Sacred Chocolate…) back to its roots to enjoy during my stay here in Peru. I have also found a few places making raw chocolate and raw cakes. Today´s special was ´Passion of Venus´ raw passion fruit cake in an organic cafe in Pisac.

    We also bought a bar of pure cacao in the Pisac market for 1 Peruvian Sol (just under 20p) – it was roasted cacao but I couldn’t resist trying. In fact it was so delicious that I regretted not buying more.

    So in the vein of chocolate, my next Raw Chocolate, Truffles & Fudge workshop is on Sunday 4 May from 2-5.30pm in Bradford on Avon. Early bird Mon 7 April.

    New news is the next Pop Up Raw Dinner Party I´ll be hosting in Bath at the Green Rocket Cafe with Kate Magic. The date is Tues 27 May, 7-10pm. We have a raw curry theme! Bookings are now open and you can find details on my website. The last 2 dinner parties have sold out so please book early to guarantee a delicious dinner and a great night out!

    I´ll be in touch again when I can find a date to squeeze in the next Raw Food Potluck.
